The barn butchery was founded by Gareth doherty in 2020, with a vision of bringing Traditional butchery back to life, sourcing from local farms supplying the finest quality produce Suffolk and surrounding counties has to offer, then preparing it to a high, consistent standard
Gareth has worked in the meat industry for over thirty years, starting with a Saturday job, completing an apprenticeship and qualifying in 1996. Since then Gareth has worked his way towards running his own butchery and farm shop serving the local community.
In 2022 Gareth won the prestige award for the best farm shop in the East of England.
There was previously a shop on the current site in the nineties serving the local community with venison and apple from the Denham estate. This closed some time ago but in 2021 Gareth took over the premises, relocating the Barn Butchery and starting again with modern equipment and counters.
The shop is still under development and Gareth has big plans for it’s future…
